Writing prompt #10

Prompt: Come up with a poem about an object that describes you.

Really? Another poem. Okay...here goes.

Here is a poem about a book.
It's kept next to my crochet hook.
There seems to be a lot of verses,
Without all of those ugly curses.
It is actually a huge collection,
Of which I have a lot of affection.
If you haven't guessed, it's the Bible.
No, no, please hold all your libel.

Writing prompt #6

Prompt: List all the cliches you can think of, then choose one you're most familiar with or one that strikes your fancy. Make that the first line of your poem. You can take the cliche literally or figuratively.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder,
But not when all you do is squander.
All I do is sit and think,
Of you and of your little kink.

I love to lay out by the ocean
And write on Newton's law of motion.
I try not to look at the wave,
But I must be getting very brave.

My shirt is getting wet and sandy,
When all you're doing is kissing Mandy.
If you think it is not through,
You must mistake me for a kangaroo.

Writing prompt #5

Prompt: Choose a poem that you like. Take the last line and use that as the first line of your own poem.

Warning - This is when I need to say that I have no poetic bone in my body, but this is what the prompt asks, so I will try. This is just about the deepest poem I've ever written, but don't ask what it means cause I have absolutely no idea! :)

Poem/ballad: The beautiful lady without pity by John Keats

And no birds sing
Up in the tips of the tree.
For when they tie the string,
Nobody will be free.

So wherever we are,
With the silent birds sleeping,
They cannot be that far
For they will all be weeping.
