Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 (1) small yellow onion chopped
- 1 rib celery chopped
- 1 carrot chopped
- 1 (2) pound ground chuck
- 1/4 (3/4) cup dry red wine
- 1/2 (1) cup chicken broth
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
Method:
- Heat olive oil on medium high heat until hot
- Add chopped vegetables
- Decrease heat to medium
- Stir occasionally for approximately 5 minutes (they should be golden)
- Add ground beef
- Increase heat to medium high
- Cook for 15 minutes
- Stir in wine, chicken broth, and tomatoes
- Simmer for 40 minutes
- Add salt if necessary
10 minutes into simmering
- Cook pasta (add squirt of olive oil so pasta doesn't stick)
- Add garlic and season to taste
